Professional Associations: Mental Health Professionals Network Leigh is a member of the Mental Health Professionals Network. The MHPN is a unique national initiative which aims to improve interdisciplinary and collaborative mental health care practicesa amonst mental health professionals. The Australian College of Psychologists (ACP) - Fellow Leigh has been a member of the College for many years and was awarded the membership of Fellow in recognition of his clinical work and contribution to the profession. Leigh has served as the National Vice President of the College from 1995 to 2005, and he was the National Editor of the College Bulletin from 1990 to 2005. He has since resigned from all public office roles. NB: Leigh is a General Psychologist under the Medicare rebate system Experience Leigh has been a psychologist in private practice since 1985. He has dealt with a wide range of issues ranging from depression, stress, anxiety, work place bullying, family relationships, marriage breakups, child development, eating disorders, addictions, to more clinical conditions such as Dissociative Identity Disorder, Personality Disorders, Mood Disorders and Psychosis. The usual sources of referrals are from medical practitioners, psychiatrists, Government Departments, members of the legal profession and the Court. Presentations & Workshops: Leigh has given lectures and run workshops on a range of psychological subjects to a number of organisations including legal firms, psychologist organisations, government departments, local businesses and non profit organisations such as the Law Society and the Law Officers Forum. Topics have included: Dissociative Identity Disorder Treatment of personality disorder Surviving marriage breakup Child Development Stress Management Treatment of Depression Providing Expert Witness Testimony Individual Behaviour in Bureaucracies Dealing with difficult clients: legal profession Quality of Service Understanding change in the workplace Parenting Skills Bringing change to the family environment Publications: I have prepared a number of publications covering issues such as parenting and child rearing for a local Canberra magazine.
