MEDICO/LEGAL ASSESSMENT

I provide medico/legal reports for the Courts. I have carried out medico/legal assessments on a range of topics including:

- Workers compensation injury assessment
- Family Court
- Fitness for Duty assessment

- Work place bullying & harassment
- Personal injury

- Criminal matters

I have been an expert witness in the Magistrates Court, Supreme Court, Family Court and the former Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

ADMIN PROCESS

Waiting time for a medico/legal assessment appointment is typically 2 to 4 weeks.  Once the appointment is made, an interview will typically be carried out in the first appointment of the day (9 AM).  Typically the interview will last between 1-2 hours.  The report will then be worked on for the rest of the day and will often be completed by close of business.

Once completed, an email will be sent to the requesting lawyer seeking prepayment with an attached tax invoice. Once the funds have been transferred the report will be released to the instructing solicitor.  This means that the completed report will be available within a day or two after your client has been assessed.

The assessment process is done via video or phone call.  Face to face assessments can be arranged but there will be a surcharge.

Documentation pertaining to medical records, clinical notes, previous records and similar, should be provided in the initial brief requesting the report.

CLINICAL NOTES

If you are requesting clinical notes from a patient I have treated.  Please email connect@nomchong.com.au providing a medical release from signed by the patient.  You will be emailed a tax invoice for prepayment, which will include a handling fee, and once paid the notes will be email to you.  To comply with Privacy Legislation the PDF will be encrypted.  The covering email will provide instructions on how to open the file and remove the encryption.

CLIENT SUPPORT

There may be times when your client is struggling with the legal process. You may not need a medicolegal report from me, however, your client may benefit from psychological support and treatment, while they go through the legal process. Having a clinician with a considerable degree of experience in the legal process can be helpful in a therapeutic setting. If you refer your client to me for such support, it is usually best for them to be medically referred by their doctor.  As is normal practice I will be writing a report to the referring doctor, which you may choose to access at a later time.

SUBPOENAS
