MEDICO/LEGAL ASSESSMENT I provide medico/legal assessments & reports, and Expert Witness Testimony for the Australian Court system. I have carried out assessments, and given expert witness evidence, on a wide range of issues including: - Workers Compensation - Family Court matters - Fitness for Duty assessment - Motor Vehicle accident - Work Place Injury - Personal injury - Immigration - Criminal matters THE PROCESS Waiting time for a medico/legal assessment appointment is typically 2 to 4 weeks. Once the appointment is made, an interview will typically be carried out in the first appointment of the day (9 AM). Typically the interview will last between 1-2 hours. The report will then be worked on for the rest of the day and will often be completed by close of business on the day of assessment. Once completed, an email will be sent to the requesting lawyer seeking prepayment with an attached tax invoice. Once the funds have been transferred the report will be released to the instructing solicitor. This means that the completed report will be available within a day or two after your client has been assessed. The assessment process is done via video or phone call. Face to face assessments can be arranged but there will be a surcharge. Documentation pertaining to medical records, clinical notes, previous records and similar, should be provided in the initial brief requesting the report. CLINICAL NOTES REQUESTS If you
are requesting clinical notes for a patient.
Please email connect@nomchong.com.au providing a
signed medical release. You will be emailed
a tax invoice for prepayment, for supply of the
notes, and once paid the notes will be email to
you. To comply with Privacy Legislation the
PDF will be password protected, using the
patient's date of birth in the format of
00/00/0000. The covering email will provide
instructions on how to open the file and remove
the encryption.
YOUR CLIENT'S SUPPORT There may be times when a lawyer does not need an assessment & report, but is finding their client is struggling with the legal process. Not a lot of people have experience with the law, and when confronted with an emotionally and financially challenging situation, they become overwhelmed, confused, distressed and may not be able to give sensible instructions in their matter. Having a clinician with a considerable degree of experience in the legal setting can make all the difference for that person. I have successfully helped many people who have gone down this path.
